Emissions of CO2 Worldwide

This is one of the data sources that probably everyone familiar with Tableau has seen at some moment. Although the data is a bit outdated, and only goes to 2011, the overall trends are still similar to this day. The first map and line graph below show the emissions of CO2 by world nations between 1960 & 2011. The viewer can hover over a nation to display the total CO2 emissions by that nation or select one of the nations by clicking on the desired nation on the map to display the CO2 emissions by that nation in the longitudinal line graph below. Keep in mind that the Y axis will change accordingly once the nation changes, depending on the nation's CO2 emissions. The viewer may also zoom in or out of the map, or may type the desired nation in the “Search” Function in the upper left hand corner.

The second map and line graph below show the CO2 emissions per capita and contain the same features as the other map and line graph. The viewer may notice that the maps look somewhat different, as the two nations that emit the most CO2 overall (U.S. and China) do not emit as much per capita, while smaller nations, such as Qatar, United Arab Emirates, and Luxembourg, emit much more CO2 per capita.

The following bar and line graphs show the data for the top 10 nations that have emitted the most CO2 between 1960 & 2011. The method used to find the 10 nations emitting the most CO2 was by finding the mean (average) total CO2 emissions by all nations per year. Keep in mind that in some cases, data was not available for some nations before the 1990s, as some of these were new nations that recently became independent, or where data may have not been available.
